Transparent graft counting · Hyderabad

How we count your grafts

Experienced. Expert. Ethical.

Refined, sorted into trays of 20, and counted where you can see it

You pay per graft, so you should know exactly how many grafts you receive. Only a few centres can count grafts exactly. At Dr. Madhu's, Dr. Pathuri Madhu developed an exact counting method that is transparent enough for your attendant to take part in.

Refined hair follicular unit grafts arranged in chilled stainless steel trays of twenty for transparent graft counting at Dr. Madhu's clinic

Step by step

From refined graft to final number

  1. Every graft is refined by URFUG

Each and every graft, whether from FUE, FUT or a combination session, goes through the URFUG method: examined under the Mantis microscope and refined under Zeiss stereo microscopes.
  2. Sorted into customised trays

Once refined, the grafts are sorted into customised stainless steel trays. Each tray holds a fixed number of grafts: exactly 20.
  3. The trays are counted

Because every tray holds the same number, the trays are counted to give the final number of grafts. For example, 150 full trays of 20 is 3,000 grafts.
  4. Your attendant can take part

The method is transparent: your attendant can join the counting, wearing a sterile mask and gown.
  5. Grafts are distributed as planned

Counted trays let the surgeon plan exactly how many grafts go to each part of the bald area, such as the hairline, the mid-scalp and the crown, so the grafts are distributed properly.

An example

Counting trays, not guessing

The numbers are an example. Your graft count is planned at consultation and confirmed by counting the trays on the day.

Why it matters

What an exact count means for you

You pay only for grafts counted

The cost is the total number of grafts multiplied by the rate per graft, so an exact count means an exact bill.

Proper distribution of grafts

Knowing the exact number in each tray helps the surgeon spread the grafts evenly and densely where they are needed.

About the recipient area

Nothing is estimated

The count comes from refined grafts in trays, not from a guess, and it can be checked by you.

Questions

Graft counting: frequently asked questions

How are grafts counted at Dr. Madhu's?

Every graft is first refined by the URFUG method. The refined grafts are sorted into customised trays that each hold exactly 20 grafts, and the trays are counted to give the final number.

Can my attendant check the graft count?

Yes. The counting method is transparent, and your attendant can take part in the counting, wearing a sterile mask and gown.

Why are the grafts put in trays of 20?

A fixed number per tray makes the count exact and easy to check, and helps the surgeon distribute the grafts properly across the bald area.

Is my hair transplant cost based on the counted grafts?

Yes. The cost is the total number of grafts multiplied by the rate per graft, plus GST: FUE ₹75, FUT ₹60, DHT ₹80 and long hair ₹95 per graft.
