Experience
Three decades in hair restoration
Dr. Madhu trained as a dermatologist and dermatosurgeon, and learned advanced hair restoration techniques from the stalwarts of the field. He has performed hair transplants since 1994, from the punch-grafting era to today's follicular unit techniques.
He practised first at Pathuri Skin & Hair Hospital, the clinic he founded in Rajahmundry, and then moved to Hyderabad to set up Dr. Madhu's Advanced Hair Transplant Centre in Jubilee Hills. Today he works only in hair restoration surgery, and leaves dermatology and cosmetic dermatology to the associate dermatologists in his team.
He is known for artistic hairline design: hairlines that mimic a natural hairline, with FUT, FUE and combination hair transplants. Patients travel to him from Mumbai, Pune, Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi and Kolkata, and from abroad (see international patients).

Much of how the team at Dr. Madhu's works today comes from methods Dr. Madhu introduced. Cards marked “First in India” are techniques he was the first in India to use.
Mantis microscope and sterile surfaces
First in IndiaHe slivers donor strips lengthwise under a Mantis microscope, under immersion, on a silica gel surface instead of wooden spatulas, and developed graft-cutting boards and surfaces that can be sterilised by autoclaving.
Open-method dissection
First in IndiaAfter practising the four-hook method, which he was the first in India to use, he developed his own open method of dissection with minimal transection and blood loss.
“Triplephytic” closure for FUT
First in IndiaFor FUT, he closes the donor wound with a combination of trichophytic and triple-layered closure, to make the scar as fine as possible.
Power-assisted FUE
For FUE, he uses power-assisted extraction with very small punches.
Micro-blades and pre-made slits
First in IndiaHe makes pre-made slits with micro-blades of 0.7 to 0.9 mm, and developed an implantation method that reduces trauma to the grafts and helps them survive.
URFUG for dense packing
First in IndiaHe was the first in India to practise ultra-refined follicular unit grafting (URFUG), which makes dense packing possible near the hairline.
Large sessions and long hair
First in IndiaHe performs mega, super mega and giga sessions and combination FUE and FUT, and introduced long hair transplantation to India.
Minimal pain
He uses pain-minimising techniques throughout the procedure.

What does ABHRS certification mean?
The American Board of Hair Restoration Surgery certifies doctors who pass its examination in hair restoration surgery. It is the highest certification available in hair restoration surgery. You can check a doctor's status in the ABHRS directory.
Does Dr. Madhu still practise dermatology?
No. Dr. Madhu now works only in hair restoration surgery. Dermatology and cosmetic dermatology at the centre are handled by the associate dermatologists in his team.
Which hair transplant techniques does Dr. Madhu perform?
FUT, FUE and combination FUE and FUT, including mega, super mega and giga sessions and long hair transplants. The technique is chosen at consultation, based on your donor area and how many grafts you need.
