What decides your results: the safe donor zone, donor density, scalp laxity and hair character
The donor area is the back and sides of the scalp, where hair is taken for a transplant. It usually holds hair that resists balding, and the results of your hair transplant depend on it.
Donor supply
Your results depend on your donor supply.
Denser donor hair allows more grafts to be taken.
How loose the scalp is. This matters most when a strip (FUT) is taken.
The thickness of each hair, its waviness and its colour all add to a good result.
Your own hair
Hair follicles (roots), not the visible hair, are transplanted. The follicles always come from your own donor area, never from another person.
Hair from other areas, such as the chest or beard, is sometimes used to get extra follicles. This is called a beard and body hair transplant.
Never from another person
Every follicle transplanted at Dr. Madhu's comes from your own body.
Safe donor zone
The safe donor zone is the back and sides of the scalp, where follicles generally resist hair loss. These follicles are commonly used because they tend to keep growing after they are transplanted.
It is a zone of probability, not a guarantee. Choosing healthy, stable follicles can improve long-term results, and harvesting from the right area lowers the risk of visible thinning or patchiness in the donor area.
A qualified hair transplant surgeon should assess your donor area before planning the procedure.
What is an unsafe donor zone? Unsafe zones are areas where follicles are more prone to loss, mainly from androgenetic alopecia (pattern hair loss). Transplanting from these areas may give poor long-term growth, or the transplanted hair may be lost. Avoiding them helps the transplant last.
Technique
The choice depends on donor density, the size of the safe donor zone and scalp laxity. A proper scalp assessment decides the best technique.
FUE is often preferred when individual follicular units can be extracted safely from the donor area.
FUE hair transplantFUT may suit scalps with enough laxity for a strip to be removed.
FUT hair transplantGraft extraction must be planned carefully to avoid over-harvesting and visible thinning. A combination session or beard and body hair may help in selected cases.
